This sentence was handed down on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, after 27-year-old Washington pleaded guilty to assaulting Shauntelle Waithe and causing her actual bodily harm on November 16, 2018.

Washington and his wife, who was seven months pregnant, were in the Cheapside Terminal when Washington struck her in the stomach after a struggle. The wife became ill as a result of the blow and had to be taken to a clinic for treatment. She was eventually discharged and proceeded to report the matter.

In relation to the other matter, Washington failed to pay a $555 fine imposed on him in January 2018. The alternative 55-day sentence attached to the fine was activated as a result and will run concurrent to the three-month sentence.

Acting Magistrate Anika Jackson presided over the matter.
