UPDATE: Man, 25, shot dead in Streats Road fleeing from police

Police have named the deceased who died in the police-involved shooting at Streats Road as Raheem Grimes.

He was 25 years old.

Police Public Relations Officer,Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss issued a release stating that the Operations Control Room received a report about of a robbery in progress at a location near Valerie pasture, St Michael. Police patrols responded to the general area and whilst responding encountered a motor car with a number of occupants. They signalled the vehicle to stop but the driver did not. A police pursuit ensued.

The vehicle travelled along Streats Road in Flagstaff. Streats Road is a cul-de-sac. A number of assailants then got out the car visibly carrying firearms, a number of them pointed in the direction of the police and police discharged their weapons in defense to that threat on their lives. One man fell to the ground, the others ran away.

That man was pronounced dead at the scene on October 18 and was later identified as Grimes of Chadderton Road, Carrington Village in St Michael.

Another man was quickly captured on the compound of a nearby residence. Police investigations are ongoing.

 

 

Man shot dead in Streats Road at minutes to midnight

A man was fatally shot at Streats Road in Flagstaff.

Around 11:55 pm, last night, Saturday, October 17, the report of the shooting in Flagstaff was received. At 3:10 am police were still on the scene of the latest unnatural death involving a firearm.

Police Public Relations Officer, Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss told the media that the shooting incident is a police involved shooting and it has resulted in the death of one male at Streats Road, Flagstaff Road in St Michael.

He said that is all the information he could share at the time.
