UPDATE: Police name road fatality victim struck while waiting for tow

Sixty-four-year-old Henderson Greenidge, a Barbadian living in England, and staying at Thicketts, St. Philip has been identified by police as the deceased in last night's fatal accident.

Unfortunately, Barbados has recorded its first road fatality for 2018.

Police are conducting investigations into the circumstances which resulted in the death of a 64-year-old man.

The fatal accident happened moments after the victim was involved in a minor accident without injuries.

He was at the scene awaiting the arrival of a tow truck. On arrival of the tow truck, he proceeded to walk towards the truck and was struck by a motor car being driven by Rico Clarke, 28 years, of Merricks, St. Philip. Clarke was travelling in the opposite direction.

The second accident occurred sometime around 11:30 pm, last night, Friday, January 5, 2018, along Four Square Road, St. Philip.

According to the police report, the victim received multiple injuries and was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) by ambulance for medical attention, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigations are continuing.
