Honour financial pledges to Bahamas; $500,000 target not reached yet

Barbados has almost hit BBD $200,000 for The Bahamas.
As of 7pm, the total stood at BBD $172,135.53 with just under three more hours to go in the Rise Again Bahamas mediathon.

ICBL has donated $15,000 to The Bahamas.
Making the donation on behalf of ICBL was the Chief Operations Officer, ICBL, Oliver Jordan, Chief Executive Officer Geff Scott and his daughter Karen, who actually held the cheque made to the CDEMA BAHAMAS/BARBADOS RELIEF FUND.
Scott said, "I'm here with my daughter Karen partly because at ICBL we think about families. You would see us more and more in the community...you have assets, those assets are your family."
Adding that "It behoves us to support Bahamas now at their time of need," Jordan who also is the Chairman of the Chartered Professional Accounts of Canada, Barbados Chapter, said that on behalf of that 500-strong organization he was pledging an additional BBD $2,500 to Rise Again Bahamas.

For The Bahamas, Barbados has raised almost BBD $80,000 (USD $20,000) in three and a half hours. At 6.25pm, Host Lisa Broome said that pledges had hit BBD $75,957.77. With $20,000 donated by the Barbados Light and Power Co. Ltd. and Emera Caribbean.
TicketLinkz has reported to Loop News that via credit cards and debit cards over BBD $18,000 (USD $9,000) has been received.

As Barbados conducts the first-ever mediathon to raise funds for The Bahamas, organisers are pleading with persons who are making pledges to honour their promised financial donations.

Hosting on CBC TV8, Radio personality Admiral Nelson continues to make this constant appeal - "I just want that after you make your donations to honour them."
Persons can call (246) 228-6288/ (246) 467-5507 or text (246) 467-5444 to make their pledges.
Direct donations can be made with Credit Cards via www.riseagainbahamas.com or using Debit Cards persons can fill out and return forms to firstname.lastname@example.org Payments processing by TicketLinkz.
On the Donor Wall on www.riseagainbahamas.com at 4:40 pm there were three visible donors whose donations totalled $254.15. These are the donors who made their donations independently.
Host Belle Holder too urged persons to "Open your heart and wallet... knowing that next time it very well may be you and me."
There was a collection container at CBC in The Pine as well and some persons have used this option as well, and are continuing to do so. The mediathon runs from 3pm, today, Sunday, September 8, to 10pm tonight.
At CBC, walking in to hand-deliver their donations were quite a few persons and groups including the past scholars of the St. Gabriel School who donated $2000, some young children came and made donations of $50 each amongst others, but making one of the largest donations was Barbados Light & Power Co. Ltd and Emera Caribbean. The utility company donated $20,000 to Rise Again Bahamas.
