UPDATE: Multiple reports of shooting during Grand Kadooment 2017

UPDATE [10:20 pm]: Police confirmed that a young man was killed and a child believed to be six-years-old was grazed by a bullet during the shooting on Spring Garden Highway.



The festivities of Kadooment Day have been marred by violence, keeping law enforcement busy responding to a number of serious incidents.

There have been many reports of violence starting from earlier today.

One man was shot and another stabbed at Waterford Road, St Michael early this afternoon.

There have since been reports of multiple shootings this evening in the City, Westbury Road and Spring Garden Highway.

That incident on the Spring Garden Highway occurred around 6:30 pm, where several persons were shot and one man is believed to have succumbed to those injuries to his chest.

While public relations officer with the Royal Barbados Police Force, Inspector Roland Cobbler, declined to give details, he would only confirm that "there are a number of incidents that we are investigating at this time".
