British Airways flew directly from London Heathrow Airport to Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados with 147 passengers and three infants.

The inaugural flight and new route touched down yesterday (October 17).

Today (October 18), Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Senator Lisa Cummins told Loop News:

"We are pleased to continue to forge new relationships with our airline partners. We are hopeful also that in the coming weeks we will be in a position to also announce even further collaborations with our UK partners aimed at ensuring safe travel.”

However, since last week, Cummins was looking forward to this inaugural flight as the applications to the Barbados Welcome Stamp continue to grow. She was speaking at the time after the return of flights to Barbados on American Airlines from Miami International Airport, which will be flying five times weekly.

Members of the Royal Barbados Police Force band played for passengers as they deboarded. BA255 from Heathrow arrived in Barbados at 6pm.
