The Junior Finals night of the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) continues to be the most popular and is now fully sold out for the second consecutive year.

The event, which is to be held at the Major Noot Hall of the Combermere School on November 10, will feature 24 performances in dance, music and theatre. Chief Cultural Officer of the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), Andrea Wells said the Junior Night is always the fastest selling night and is evidence that there continues to be much support at the community level for youth talent.

Wells also said investment in the youth is critical to developing the individual talent of the young ones and the performances on the night will highlight how much work the students have done. She said students will be covering a range of topical issues such as sexual harassment, health, the environment and taxes in their performances.

Sagicor Life Inc. has come on board as a sponsor for the third consecutive year and Assistant Vice President of Marketing, Carolyn Shepherd, said the company wants to see more young ones take up a professional career in the arts.

"It is important that we understand that cultural art forms are history lesson as well as a passport to this country's future. This is why Sagicor Life Inc. has continually partnered with the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) to ensure that the Juniors' Final is help each year. We visualize a future Barbados where practitioners of music, dance and theatre will be the norm and not the exception. Where these disciplines are taught in every school and where our young people can earn a comfortable living, like those in business and the sciences."

Also included in the NIFCA calender is the Finals of Theatre on Saturday November 11, the Music Finals on November 12 and the Dance Finals on November 13.
