St Kitts and Nevis will reopen its borders on October 31.

St Kitts and Nevis will reopen its borders on October 31.

Travellers from CARICOM countries that are part of the travel bubble will not have to submit a PCR test or undergo any tests upon arrival in St Kitts and Nevis.

Those travellers, however, must have been a resident of those countries for 21 days before arrival into the twin-island.

St Kitts and Nevis will reopen its borders on October 31.

Speaking to the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) at a webinar last week, Tourism Minister Lindsay Grant outlined the requirements for visitors to the island.

International travellers, including those that are outside of the CARICOM bubble, will have to submit a negative PCR test result upon arrival and undergo a PCR test at the airport.

Visitors staying between one to seven days will have to vacation in place at one of the four approved hotels or their own home once it is approved by the Ministry of Health.

Those staying over seven days will be required to undergo another PCR test on the seventh day and if negative can visit approved attractions. Those staying over 14 days will have to undergo a final test before they can integrate fully into society.

The tests cost USD $100.

The four hotels that will be opened for visitors are the Marriott, Park Hyatt, the Koi Resort and The Four Seasons Hotel in Nevis. Grant said as time progresses other properties will be included.

Grant revealed that masks are mandatory on the islands and there is a fine of EC$500 or USD $175 for failure to comply.

St Kitts and Nevis currently has no active cases of COVID-19.

Grant said the first flight to the island will be American Airlines on November 7. Air Canada is expected to begin flights from November 21.

He said they are in talks with regional airlines to facilitate Caribbean travellers.
