A non-hotelier is the new BHTA Chairman

The Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) is geared up to make 2016 another record year for tourist arrivals.

This was the consensus of the association during their Annual General Meeting today at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Center.

Members elected new officers to the board and these include:
Chairman Roseanne Myers of Atlantis Submarine.
1st vice Chairman Gerry Lewis of Radisson Aquatica Resort.
2ndVice Chairman Kavita Sandiford of St. James Travel and Tours
Director of Finance Colin Jordan of Mango Bay Hotel.
Director of Direct Tourism Services Allan Kinch of Black Pearl Party Cruises

Myers has created history for being the first non-hotelier to hold the position of Chairman.

Immediate Past Chairman of the BHTA Sunil Chatrani told the audience despite the change in leadership, the BHTA will continue to build the Barbados brand and lobby tirelessly for concessions for hoteliers.

Chatrani also sounded high praise for Chief Executive Officer Sue Springer who will be remitting office at the end of the year.

Springer will act as Advisor to the Board after her resignation. She received a standing ovation following her address, in which she noted the accomplishments of the BHTA show the future of the tourism sector is in good hands.

Members remaining on the board are Karen Capaldi of Coral Reef/Sandpiper, Paul Collymore of Ocean Living Inc, Robyn Gallop-Knight of Rostrevor and Vanita Commissiong of On the Wall.
