Over 2,500 cannabis plants seized, one man arrested

Police seized a total of 2,619 cannabis plants, and one man was caught in relation to almost 400 of them.
Yesterday, Wednesday, January 31, 2018, members of the Drug Squad conducted illegal drug eradication operations in several districts in the parish of St. John. The cannabis plants ranged in size from seedlings to 10-feet in height.
The areas were:
1. Pot House, St. John - 382 plants;
2. Cliff Cottage, St. John - 1305 plants;
3. Welch Village, St. John - 932 plants
During this operation, Edwin Dane Victor, 38 years of no fixed place of abode was arrested and formally charged for a number of drug-related offences, committed on the same day whilst at Pot House, St. John.
Victor was arrested and formally charged for:
· Possession of Cannabis
· Trafficking in Cannabis
· Possession with Intent to Supply Cannabis
· Cultivation of Cannabis
Victor appeared before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch in the District ‘C’ Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to the offences.
He was fined $5,000.00 in six months or 18 months in prison for the offence of Cultivation of Cannabis.
He was further sentenced to 18 months in prison suspended for two years for the offence of Possession of Cannabis.
Reprimanded & Discharged (R&D) for the offence of Trafficking Cannabis and Convicted Reprimanded and Discharged (CRD) for the offence of Possession with intent to supply.
