PHOTOS: Footballers turnout for college opportunity
Last weekend approximately 80 talented footballers took an important step towards their future.
The Barbados Football Association (BFA) in conjunction with Premier Global Prospects hosted the first College Showcase at the BFA Wildey Turf.
Boys and girls between the ages of 15 and 19 years participated in the two-day event with the grand objective of securing a spot in a US based university.

The participants, which included a number of junior national players, participated in small-sided games, technical drills, physical testing and matches amongst each other, all under the guidance and instruction of CEO of Premier Global Prospects Ricardo Ramirez and his team.
Barbados is the third country in the region to be offered the opportunities of the showcase, Grenada and St Lucia preceded us and St Kitts & Nevis will be the final destination of their summer 2019 tour.
Ramirez said the objective of the showcase is all about opportunity, creating more avenues or more accessible paths for the educated and talented athletes of the region to earn a scholarship in the United States.
“The purpose of this showcase is to be able to provide all college coaches in the US with video footage of the top talent in Barbados so that more players have opportunities to potentially receive scholarships.
We are aiming to vastly increase the opportunities for each player by maximizing the number of coaches that view them play so that less players go undiscovered.
All of our camps are completely free of charge for each player that is invited because we believe that economic factors should not limit opportunity”, said Ramirez.
Ramirez praised the BFA for partnering with them and being graceful host, stating that him and his team will be back in 2020.
