Piarco International Airport named best airport in the Caribbean

Piarco International Airport in Trinidad and Tobago (April 12, 2019)
The Airports Authority has announced the Piarco International Airport has topped the region as the best airport in the Caribbean, as declared by the Skytrax 2019 World Airport Awards.
In a statement on Thursday, the Authority said this is a significant achievement as there is a marked improvement from the 2018 ranking.

It noted that Piarco International Airport bypassed the Norman Manley International Airport in Jamaica and the Grantley International Airport in Barbados to cop first place.

The Authority added that further to this, in relation to the global region-Central America and the Caribbean, the Piarco International Airport has been ranked by Skytrax as the third best airport, edged out only by Panama’s Tocumen International Airport and Costa Rica’s San Jose International Airport.

General Manger of the Authority, Hayden Newton believes that these accomplishments are as a result of the renewed thrust of the authority to realise certain strategic objectives.
Newton explained, “We have placed great focus on using innovation to enhance the customer experience at our airport facilities. These awards prove that our efforts are bearing fruit and giving us competitive advantage.”
Skytrax World Airport Awards are the most prestigious accolades for the airport industry.
