There was a gem of a life lesson in the Barbados Tridents' most recent win.

According to Barbados' Prime Minister Mia Mottley, many could learn from the new Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 champions.

Congratulating the team on her Instagram, she reposted a photo from CPL and captioned:

Receiving over 1,000 likes on the post, shared three days ago, after the Finals in Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday night, Barbados' leader returned to comment on her post.

PM Mottley simply wrote:

"Lesson - even if it does not start well, stay focussed and deliver!"

USA's Hayden Walsh Jr on the Tridents team was also adjudged Player of the Tournament for his 22 wickets in the tournament – most in this season. In the Finals, Walsh Jr snared only one wicket, but it was the prized scalp of Guyana skipper Malik, in his final outing.

The Tridents had a shaky start in the 2019 CPL season, but when it mattered most, they indeed dug deep, pulled together and came out victorious.
