PNM declares victory in T&T 2020 General Election

The People's National Movement (PNM) has declared victory in the 2020 General Election. 

PNM leader Dr Keith Rowley declared victory in 22 seats, leaving the United National Congress (UNC) with 19 seats. 

Addressing a small gathering at a stage set up outside the PNM's Balisier House headquarters Rowley,  flanked by party members, thanked those who were instrumental in the PNM's victory at the polls.

The party lost the Moruga seat to the UNC. At the 2015 polls the PNM won 23 seats and the UNC, 18. 

Election results will be declared by the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) tomorrow.

Votes are still being tallied in some constituencies but the People’s National Movement (PNM) is declaring 15 seats.

As of 10.15 pm, voting tallies put the PNM squarely in the lead in Arima, Arouca/Maloney, D’Abadie/O’Meara, Diego Martin West, La Brea, Laventille East/Morvant, Laventille/West, Lopinot/Bon Air West, Port of Spain North/St Ann’s West, Port of Spain South, San Fernando East, St Ann’s East, Tobago West, Toco/Sangre Grande and Tunapuna.

The United National Congress (UNC) has also declared 11 seats: Caroni East, Cumuto/Manzanilla, Fyzabad, Mayaro, Naparima, Oropouche East, Oropouche West, Princes Town, Siparia, Tabaquite.

The PNM claimed 23 seats at the 2015 polls, while the UNC secured 18.
