Police Constable charged with death by dangerous driving

A police constable charged with causing the death of a 52-year-old by dangerous driving was granted $5,000 bail yesterday.

The 29-year-old PC, Renaldo Jerome Goodman of Glebe Land, St George did not enter any pleas but will return on June 25 to do so when he reappears in the District 'A' Magistrates' Court. The traffic offences occurred on May 26, 2018. 

The incident allegedly caused the death of Owen Stuart. Stuart was crossing the road near the Bussa roundabout when he was struck and subsequently died. 

Goodman was allegedly driving a motorcycle at the time of the accident. According to one of the additional charges, Goodman is the holder of a learner's permit and is accused of not clearly displaying the letter 'L' on the front and back of the vehicle.

He is also accused of driving after 8 p.m. contrary to the time specified for driving with a learner's permit.

Other charges included driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without insurance and road tax, and the fraudulent use of registration number plates G1305.
