Police discover firearm, money hidden near church

A police operation conducted in St Michael has led to the discovery and seizure of a firearm, ammunition and cash close to a church.

Between the dates September 13 to 15, the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) conducted a number of operations across the island including one in the area of Well Gap, Cave Hill, St Michael.

Police discovered one 9mm firearm and a number of matching rounds of ammunition. The search also revealed an undisclosed sum of money.

The items were found near a church in the area.

Police investigations into the discovery are continuing.

In June this year, a 28-year-old St James man was shot and killed at Well Gap, Cave Hill, St Michael. The victim had been liming under a streetlight playing dominoes when a loud explosion was heard.

He died at the scene.
