Police investigating shooting at Charles Rowe Bridge gas station

A video of a shooting incident which occurred at a local gas station has been widely circulated on social media.

Police have confirmed the incident occurred at Sol Gas Station in Charles Rowe Bridge St George on Sunday, January 26, 2020.

A male, 23-year-old Shaquille Callender of Odessa McClean Avenue, My Lords Hill in St Michael received a gunshot injury to his leg.

Police reports indicate the shooting, which occurred around 12.15 am, was as a result of an argument between Callender and the unknown gun man.

Callender was reportedly inside the gas station when he and the shooter became engaged in an argument. Callender left the service station and went outside to a motor car. He returned to the service station and made an attempt to re-enter the building. At this time, the shooter had armed himself with a gun, exited the building and when Callender saw him, he attempted to run away.

The shooter fired several shots in Callender’s direction and one of the bullets struck him in the left leg. Callender then ran in the direction of Chefette Restaurants. He was later transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) by private vehicle.
