Police issue witness appeal after teen drowns

Forty-five minutes after public schools ended early on Wednesday, May 15, a teenager's beach visit had come to a tragic end.

Police are still appealing for witnesses who can assist with the investigations into the drowning of 13-year-old Christina Reid of Gemswick St. Phillip, which reportedly occurred about 1:45 pm on Wednesday, at Pierhead Beach, Bay Street, St. Michael.

According to the police report, the deceased was in the company of two friends when she got into difficulty. Reid was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Public are calling on anyone who may have information related to this incident to contact Central Station at 430-7676, Police Emergency 211, Crime Stoppers 1800-8477(TIPS) or any Police Station.
