Loaded trucks have a speed limit of 35 km per hour.

Raising this alarm to see more truckers obey and comply with the road traffic laws of Barbados is Sergeant Seibert Johnson of the Police Traffic Division.

After a trucker's brakes allegedly failed as he drove down the hill from Mangrove Pond Landfill in St Thomas towards the Ronald Mapp Highway, the ten-wheeler vehicle went straight across the roadway and smashed into a van. The two vehicles were extensively damaged.

Sergeant Johnson said that drivers need to take more care with their driving and the care of their vehicles to ensure that they are in good working order at all times.

Noting that the accident was unfortunate, he reminded that the speed limit for trucks and buses when loaded is 35 km per hour and when empty it is 50 km per hour. He said that they need to be cognisant of the laws.
