Police search van, find drugs worth millions

Two men have been remanded to HMP Dodds on drug charges committed at one of their homes.

On Monday, March 19, 2018, the Drug Squad arrested and formally charged Antonio Raymond Browne, 35 years of Glendalough Road, Josey Hill, St. Lucy, and Damien Omar Gooding, 32 years of Salters Tenantry Road, St. Michael for the following offences which they committed at the residence of Antonio Browne.

Drug Charges

1) Possession of cannabis

2) Trafficking cannabis

3) Possession of cannabis with intent to supply

4) Conspiracy to traffic cannabis

Secondly, Antonio Browne and Damien Gooding were jointly charged for the offence of conspiracy to traffic cannabis which they committed on Sunday, March 18, 2018.

Furthermore, Damien Gooding was formally charged for the offence of handling cannabis which he committed at the residence of Antonio Browne on Sunday, March 18, 2018. 

According to the police report, a motor van was searched and 30 polythene bags were found packed inside.  These polythene bags were examined and found to contain vegetable matter suspected to be cannabis a controlled drug.

The weight of the suspected cannabis is 774.1 kilos (1703.02 lbs) with an estimated value of Three million, ninety-six thousand, four hundred dollars (BBD $3,096,400.00) Barbados currency.

The pair appeared before Magistrate Wanda Blair in the Holetown Magistrates Court and were remanded to April 14, 2018.
