Despite restoring power to the entire island after yesterday's island-wide power outage, the company was struck by another issue today plunging many into darkness once again.

On Instagram less than one hour ago, the utility provider stated:

'Light & Power sincerely apologizes to customers for the major electricity outage yesterday and regretfully, the crisis situation for us is not over.

'Overnight one of our large diesel engines shut down again due to another stuck fuel pump and this morning we find ourselves in a similar situation with customers without electricity.

'Last night, we were able to safely restore all customers to service by 11. It was a very difficult day as persons and businesses were severely impacted - many without electricity for hours.

'Light & Power acknowledges that this situation has reached an unprecedented level for us and we want to assure Barbadians that we are engaging stakeholders on the matter.

'Again, we sincerely apologize to customers and to Barbadians for the major disruption caused by these outages'.

Schools are closed today due to the outage. Yesterday public schools closed half-day in many instances.
