Prime Minister Hon. Mia Amor Mottley delivering an uplifting message to Barbados' healthcare professionals

As local health authorities continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Hon. Mia Amor Mottley has offered kind words to healthcare professionals working on the front lines.

In the message sent out on the social media platforms YouTube and Instagram, Prime Minister Mottley acknowledged the recent news that six of the previously positive tested coronavirus patients have now fully recovered.

The PM also asked Barbadians not to place additional pressure on healthcare workers at this time. She urged the public to practice social distancing and asked that they not purchase N95 masks as those in the health sector will require them for use.

The message was issued prerecorded, as Prime Minister Mottley is currently recovering at home from surgery. Her address came on the heels of the announcement of Barbados' first death from the virus which claimed the life of an 81-year-old Barbadian citizen. Prime Minister Mottley also offered her kind condolences to the family of the deceased.

A 100-member team of medical professionals from Cuba arrived on in Barbados on Sunday night to aid local healthcare workers in the COVID-19 fight.
