UPDATE: Prison officer gets bail

UPDATE [12:15 pm]: 

Prison Officer, Melvin MacDonald Goodman, 47 years, of Bathsheba, St. Joseph and Todds Land, St. George, who was arrested and formally charged by police for Unlawfully Conveying Prohibited Articles, into Her Majesty Prison Dodds, appeared before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch in the District ‘C’ Magistrates Court today 

He pleaded not guilty to the offence and was granted bail at the sum of $500.00, with one (1) surety, to reappear in Court on the February 26, 2018.


The Royal Barbados Police Force has arrested and formally charged a 47-year-old prison officer, for the offence of Unlawfully Conveying Prohibited Articles into Her Majesty Prison Dodds.

He is Melvin MacDonald Goodman of Bathsheba, St. Joseph and Todds Land, St. George. Goodman is facing charges that on Wednesday, December 6, without lawful authority, he took into Her Majesty Prison a number of food items for an inmate.

Goodman is expected to appear in the District “C’ Magistrates Court today.
