Project Love and Digicel gifted hampers for Christmas

As part of its efforts to spread Christmas cheer, Digicel donated much-needed hampers to several needy families across Barbados.

Delivered by staff members of the communications and entertainment leader just in time to ensure that those benefitting could enjoy hearty Christmas meals, the hampers included widely used food and grocery items.

Working closely with the ‘Project Love’ programme of the New Covenant Inheritors Ministries, Digicel was able to identify families in need of assistance. Singing full praises for the assistance was Philippe Taitt, Chairman of the Love programme, who said. “Some of these households have as many as 19 children and we are eternally grateful to and deeply appreciative of Digicel for coming on board. It is definitely a blessing to these families to receive these hampers, especially at this time of year.”

CEO of Digicel Barbados, Conor Looney, noted that although their seasonal promotion sought to make sure their customers had an opportunity to ‘Get Gifted’ with cash, handsets and other prizes, donations like this were a very important pillar of their Christmas activity.

He added, “At Digicel we are committed to being a good corporate citizen and what held the greatest meaning for my team and I, was giving back to the communities that have supported us over the years. We are always happy to lend support to Project Love as they seek to better the lives of those in most need of assistance across the island.”

Members of Digicel staff were also encouraged to submit the names of families in their own communities and then prepared hampers to present to their neighbours in need.
