Psychiatric Hospital mum on employment status of nurse
Senior officials at the island's lone mental health institution remain tight-lipped as to when and how the incident involving one of their male nurses will be dealt with.
It is now one month since Jason Jamal Phillips of Madison Terrace, Deacons Farm, St. Michael made an appearance in the District A Magistrate Court to answer to the charge of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Alden King.
The wounding incident was captured on video and shared to social media with many calling for Phillip's termination.
He has since been suspended from the hospital and entered a plea of not guilty in court.
When Loop News contacted the hospital, one senior official declined to comment when asked if Phillips was still employed as a nurse there. The official also declined to confirm whether disciplinary hearings had commenced against Phillips.
Loop News was informed by a source close to the hospital that Nurse Phillips is still on active suspension and receiving half-pay.
He is expected to return to court on October 30, 2018 and as part of his bail conditions he has to report to the Black Rock Police Station every Wednesday before 10 am and is not allowed on the premises of the hospital.
