Rendezvous FC came so close
Character and perseverance stood out as Rendezvous FC staged a memorable comeback to earn a valuable point last
Saturday evening at the Barbados Football Association (BFA) Wildey Astroturf, when the ninth round of the BFA Premier League kicked off.
After a difficult run of form in recent weeks, which included three successive defeats, Rendezvous came from behind to salvage a 4-4 draw with Mark Auto Spares Porey Spring FC.
The one-time title challengers have found themselves at the bottom of Zone 2 after some unfavourable results and a personnel shortage.
However, the return of Vincentian international Ray Snagg seemed to ignite the Rendezvous fire as they frustrated their opponents.
Porey Spring are still winless in their debut campaign and have themselves to blame for failing to add three points to their tally.
Jomo Harewood handed his team an early 2-0 lead with goals in the 5th and 21st minutes; but just after the break Snagg came to the party with two goals of his own (45th, 47th).
Snagg netted his hat-trick and subsequently gave Rendezvous the lead in the 60th minute.
Harewood matched Snagg’s heroics with his third goal of the encounter in the 78th minute and captain Shaquille Stewart restored Porey Spring’s lead in the 83rd minute.
Christopher Shepherd Jr. spoilt Porey Spring’s premature celebrations though, as he scored in the 90th minute and that's how the scoreline stayed.
