Spirits were high as Barbados raised their glasses to toast the launch of the 2018 Food and Rum Festival.

It was a fittingly sumptuous affair at Hugo's Restaurant as the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) announced the details of one of the most anticipated festivals of the year.

And fitting too was the fact that the launch was timed for International Rum Day.

This year's festival runs from October 18-21 - a change from the traditional November dates - and it will an all new line-up as the BTMI seeks to redevelop the nine-year-old extravaganza.

It will also champion the wealth of local culinary talent.

BTMI CEO William 'Billy' Griffith said the changes come as the organisation continues to "deliver a product that both satisfies the appetite of our audience, while perfecting the unique selling points for which destination Barbados is known and loved".

Watch our video below to here all about the changes and to get a taste of the atmosphere from the night.
