Tragic end to Rihanna's Christmas
Rihanna posted this image of her and her cousin on Instagram.
Though Rihanna commanded the attention and coin of many this Christmas as she prepared to drop new Fenty Beauty lipsticks on Boxing Day, she not only got sick over the holidays but last night her family was directly hit by gun violence on Barbados' shores.
Barbadian international superstar Robyn 'Rihanna' Fenty, has been thrown into mourning, following the death of her cousin last night.
Police reported that the 21-year-old, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, was shot multiple times while walking through a track near his Eden Lodge, St. Michael home around 7:00 pm.
Rihanna pays tribute to her cousin
The philanthropist who was recently honoured when her childhood street address, Westbury New Road, was renamed 'Rihanna Drive', took to Instagram to express her sorrow at her cousin's passing, while focusing on getting a positive message across through the hashtag #endgunviolence:
"RIP cousin... can't believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man! 😢🙏🏿❤ #endgunviolence," she wrote.
Many of her followers offered their condolences and stood in solidarity with her by using that hashtag:
