‘For Sale’ cars to get the boot from highway

From next week, a national clean-up of the island’s highways and byways is expected to get underway to remove parked cars advertised for sale on the highway.

Notice of this came from Minister of Transport, Works and Maintenance, Dr. the Honourable William Duguid, who stated this practice is in contravention of the Road Traffic Act.

Minister Duguid has asked all persons who try to advertise vehicles by parking them on the highway to desist from this activity.

“The Ministry will be carrying out a programme of removing cars that are parked on the highway, from next week. These vehicles are a hazard to other road users and this practice must be brought to an end”.

Owners of the vehicles are asked to note there will be a cost attached to reclaiming vehicles that have been removed.
