UPDATE: Family identifies body found near St. James secondary

Editor's note - Police have amended the previous press release and apologised for the error.

The body was in fact discovered at Trents, St. James, opposite the Frederick Smith Secondary School.

Since then, the body has also been positively identified by a close family member as that of Trevor Clavier Marshall, 60 yrs of first avenue Jackson, St. Michael. 

Marshall is said to be a person who habitually roams and sleeps on the streets.

Investigations are continuing. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Searching for bottles, man makes surprising discovery

A man who was searching a shady area near the Daryll Jordan Secondary School stumbled upon a dead body.

This is according to the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF). 

Police are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the unnatural death of a man whose decomposing body was discovered around 9:00 am this morning, Tuesday, May 29, 2018, in an area opposite the school at Trents, St. Lucy.

A man reported to the police that he came across the decomposing body of the man lying on the ground under a canopy of trees. At the time, the man who made the discovery was searching the area collecting bottles as he walked through a track about 50 meters from the main roadway opposite the Daryll Jordan School.

Police have informed the public that they are continuing investigations into this matter which is being treated as an unnatural death.

Anyone who can provide any information that can assist with these investigations is being asked to call the Crab Hill Police Station at 310-7700, Holetown Station at 419-1700 or the nearest police station.
