Seven UWI foreign students injured in accident

Seven pedestrians – three males and four females had to seek medical attention after a vehicle, which had lost control, struck them.

The incident occurred around 11:11 pm on Friday, August 30, along University Hill, St. Michael, a short distance from the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus.

Police say a van owned and driven by 57-year-old George Marshall of Sturges, St. Thomas was travelling due east when he lost control of the vehicle.  It swerved to the opposite sidewalk and collided with the group of foreign students who range from ages 17 to 21, who were walking back to the Campus.

Five of them were transported to the QEH by ambulance while the other two opted to seek private medical attention.

They all complained of various injuries the worst being pains about the body.
