Shoplifting spree lands St. Andrew woman in court
It was an unconventional shopping spree that landed a 46-year-old woman before a Bridgetown Court yesterday.
Sherry - Anne Elaine Edmund-Edwards, who resides in Farrells Road, Lakes, St Andrew, admitted stealing over $100 in items from a store in the city's capital.
On July 15, while Edwards was in F.W. Woolworth & Company Ltd. her glances toward the security guard in the store aroused his suspicions. Keeping her under observation, Edwards was seen in the haberdashery section which stores face-jewels and glitter. She put some items into her basket and ventured to the handbag section.
While there, she took up large bag and then went to the house-ware area, this time taking up a tote bag and placing it in the basket. From there, the next stop was the shoe section where she was seen placing items into the tote bag.
Yesterday, Edwards admitted stealing one ladies bag, one disinfectant, one insecticide, a pack of glitter, a lantern, two packs of face jewels, one jar of petroleum jelly, one pack of 10 count glitter, four packs of hair beads, one pair of slippers and a tote bag. The total value of the items was placed at $145.30.
Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant placed Edwards on a six month bond. If she breaches the bond she will have to pay $750 forthwith of spend four weeks in jail.
