Spurs go to the top of the table

Reigning Barbados Football Association (BFA) Premier League kings, the Barbados Defense Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) sent a stern message to all challengers in the BFA Capelli Sport Super Cup last night at the BFA Wildey Turf.

It took them three weeks to make their tournament debut but they did it confidently, dismissing the Barbados Soccer Academy (BSA) 5-1.

A hat-trick by national U23 midfielder Renaldo Trim spearheaded the BDFSP attack, he scored in the 24th, 43rd and 74th minute.

National senior duo Raheim Sargeant and Rashad Jules completed BDFSP’s scorecard with goals in the 17th and 76th minutes respectively. Romario Dennie was BSA’s lone goal scorer in the 13th minute.

In the other Group E encounter, Blackspurs went to the top of the group with their first win of the competition, defeating Kick Start FC 2-1; taking their tally to four points from two matches

Vincentian forward Tevin Slater scored goals in each half (31st & 71st) for Blackspurs, while Renaldo Gilkes scored in the 80th minute for Kick Start.

In the opening encounter of the evening, a brace by Combermere School midfielder Nathan Skeete saw Whitehall FC earn a valuable 2-0 victory over Cosmos FC.

Skeete scored in 73rd and 81st minutes to gather three necessary points for his club who are now joint in second place in Group F with Scotty’s Car Rentals St Andrew Lions with three points from two matches.
