St Andrew duo accused in Rahim Ward murder, face slew of charges

Thirteen days after Rahim Ward was found dead in a shallow grave in St. Andrew, two men were formally charged with his murder.

The two, who reside in the parish of St. Andrew, faced numerous charges including the murder charge.

They are Kevin Andrew Haynes 24 years of Jordan Road, Belleplaine, St. Andrew and Nathan Anthony Gaskin, 20 years of Walkers, St. Andrew. The two are charged for the murder of 22-year-old Rahim Ward which occurred between August 23 and August 30, 2019 at Walkers, St. Andrew.

Ward was last seen by a family member on August 23, 2019 and then he was the subject of a missing person's report.

Both accused appeared at the District ‘D’ Magistrates court on Thursday, September 12, 2019 before Magistrate Ian Weekes where they were not required to plead to the indictable charge. They were both remanded into custody to HMP Dodds and are scheduled to reappear at the said court on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

And together they also face serious bodily harm charges.

Haynes and Gaskin were formally charged for the offence of Wounding With Intent To Commit Serious Bodily Harm to 21-year-old Deshawn Ricardo Clarke which occurred on Friday, August 23, 2019, at Walkers, St. Andrew.

It was purported that Clarke and Ward were together when the shooting incident occurred. Clarke reportedly received what looked like four gunshot injuries.

Both accused appeared at the District ‘D’ Magistrates court on Thursday, September 12, 2019, before Magistrate Ian Weekes where they were not required to plead to the indictable charge. They were both
remanded into custody to HMP Dodds and are scheduled to reappear at the said court on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

Additionally, the pair was also charged for several drug offences concerning the discovery by police of 76 plants suspected to be of the genus cannabis which was found under cultivation at Walkers, St. Andrew on Saturday, August 24, 2019.

These offences are:
1. Possession of Cannabis
2. Possession of Cannabis with intent to supply 
3. Trafficking Cannabis.
4. Cultivation
