St George victim succumbs to gunshot injuries, pronounced dead at QEH

Barbados has recorded another fatal shooting incident.

This morning (July 26) police received a report of shots fired about 7.45 am.

Police Public Relations Officer Acting Inspector Rodeny Inniss issued a statement to the media stating that police received a report of a shooting incident via telephone from an individual who reported that a man was shot several times near his residence at Rowans in St George.

According to Inniss, on arrival to the scene police found a man lying on the ground with what appeared to be a number of injuries about his chest and head.

Ambulance personnel arrived shortly afterwards and transported him to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical attention.

The victim did not make it. He was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the Hospital.

Investigations are ongoing.

By Inniss' count, this is the 25th unnatural death recorded in Barbados for 2020 to date.
