St. Philip man secures bail for million-dollar marijuana charge

Bail at the sum of $900 000 was granted yesterday to one of six men on serious drug charges.

Joshua Aaron Singh, 19, of Haggatt Hall, St Michael; Richard Trevor Nurse, 50, of Brandons, St Michael; Raoul Hardat Singh, 54, of Strathclyde Drive, St Michael; Ryan O’Neal Griffith, 44, of Lucas Street, St Philip; Dale Eugene Gill, 46, of No. 26 Oleander Drive, Enterprise, Christ Church and  David Edward Forde, 50, of Risk Road, Fitts Village, St James first appeared in the District "A" Magistrates' Court on June 20 on the drug related charges. The estimated amount of drugs involved are said to be worth over $1 000 000.

On their first appearance, after bail applications from their various lawyers, they were granted one million dollars each. None of the six were able to secure sureties at that time and they were remanded.

However, since then Forde was able to post bail and yesterday DJ/Promoter Griffith followed suit. The court accepted the $900 000 worth of collateral presented to the court by the three sureties for Griffith.

Griffith, who was represented by lawyer Steve Gollop, was ordered to report to the District "C" Police Station every Monday and Thursday before 12 p.m. If he wishes to travel he must seek permission from the court in the presence of his sureties.

Joshua, Nurse and Raoul face possession, supply and trafficking charges in relation to 800 pounds of cannabis. These offences occurred on June 14.

Griffith and Gill are jointly charged for committing a preparatory act for the purpose of trafficking cannabis and trafficking of the drug between June 13 and 14 and importating cannabis on June 14.

Forde is separately accused of committing a preparatory act for the purpose of trafficking cannabis and trafficking of the drug on June 14.
