Around 2:00 pm this afternoon, members of the Barbados Fire Service responded to a blaze at Perfection New Road, St. Michael where a home occupied by a mother and her three children was completely destroyed and a neighbour’s house extensively damaged.

When Loop News arrived on the scene of the blaze, fire officers had gotten the fire under control but not in time to save any of the possessions of the house belonging to 36-year-old Kimberley Hunte who lived with her three boys, 14-year-old Tutarkamon Cyr, eight-year-old Kishawn Burnette and six-year-old Tayshawn Burnette. Hunte also has two other children who were not at the residence at the time of the fire.

At the time of the fire, the two younger boys were at home while the eldest had stepped next door for a minute. Station Officer, Anthony King confirmed to Loop News that it is believed that the fire originated in the bedroom of the home.

The mother was not available for comment as she and the children had already left the scene when Loop's reporter sought to speak with her.

The neighboring house, occupied by 66-year-old, Trevor Jordan, suffered extensive fire damage to the roof and the wall and also sustained water damage.
