St Phillip Business Alliance asking residents to put parish first

Business persons in St Phillip are compiling a directory of businesses in that parish, encouraging networking and urging fellow St Philip businesses to support each other by paying for goods and services there first.

The St Philip Business Alliance (SPBA) has been established to bring small businesses together under a single umbrella body to make St Philip a thriving hub.

Belnando Weekes, a member of the Alliance and coordinator of the event said they are encouraging businesses to share their expertise and resources to facilitate investment.

The Alliance was set up as its members believe that investing in the community is one of the solutions that can help turn around the current economic challenges.

Weekes explained that the campaign to buy in St Philip will extend to the close to 40 000 residents in that parish, through a widespread promotion and education drive, starting with the breakfast seminar ‘Are You Financially Secure?’  at Sunbury Plantation House on September 22.

It will feature presenter Terry Williams, a primary broker at Signia Financial, who will be sharing information about various investment tools available locally and explaining how they can be used to generate income.
