Stop and search detainee remanded by Chief Magistrate

He appeared in District 'C' Court on Thursday, May 18, 2017.
Darius Kenrick Bowen was charged after a police stop and search along Grove Road, St. Philip on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.
Police formally charged the 25-year-old of #47 A, Sanddunes Drive, Sandy Hill, St. Philip, for the offences of Indecent Language and Insulting Language. These offences were committed on Wednesday during the stop and search by members of the Tactical Response Unit, of the Royal Barbados Police Force.
Bowen appeared before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch in the District ‘C’ Court yesterday, Thursday, May 18, 2017, and was remanded to prison to reappear in Court May 22, 2017.
However this morning there are reports that he was released last night. The police spokesperson said he could not confirm the release but he was certain that when Bowen appeared before the Chief Magistrate he was remanded.
