Two men have been remanded on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of six rounds of ammunition.
They are Corey Cleophus Parris, 45, of Shop Hill, St. Thomas and Shakir Omari Maycock, 23, of New Orleans, St. Michael.
According to police, on Tuesday, October 3, around 4:45 pm, members of the Tactical Response Unit (TRU), were on duty along Sunflower Drive, Cane Garden, St. Thomas conducting an operation when Parris was seen driving a car, accompanied by Maycock. The vehicle was stopped and a subsequent search of the car revealed the firearm and ammunition. The two men have been jointly charged for the above offences.
Parris faces additional charges of having no drivers license and no third party insurance.
Parris and Maycock appeared before Magistrate Wanda Blair in the Holetown Magistrates Court today and were remanded to prison to reappear in the District ‘D’ Magistrates Court on October 24, 2017.
