Sunrise FC singing the ‘Blues’

Empire Sports Club scored seven goals.

Empire Sports Club scored seven goals.

We are back!

That’s the message delivered by Barbados Football Association (BFA) Division One champions Empire Sports Club.

After being demoted from the Digicel Premier League last year, the “Blues” immediately return to the top flight of domestic football with an emphatic 7-0 victory over Sunrise FC last night at the Passage Road playing field.

Joining Empire in next season’s premiership will be debutants Porey Springs FC after they held off a strong challenge from the Barbados Defense Force (BDF) to draw 2-2 last night at the Barbados Football Association (BFA) Wildey Astroturf.

Deyonte Munroe handed Porey Springs the lead in the 44th minute, but two goals in three minutes by Nicholas Best in the 62nd minute and national midfielder Jamal Chandler, caused some panic for the St Thomas based unit.

Pecos Nurse eased the panic attacks six minutes from full time and earned a valuable point which took his team to 48 points, one more than third place Silver Sands who edged Youth Milan 1-0 at the Checker Hall playing field.

Silver Sands and Youth Milan, due to their third and fourth place positions respectively, secured an opportunity to move into the proposed 12 team 2018 Digicel Premier League season via the playoff route against the two bottom placed premiership clubs at the end of the current season.
