SLU: Suspect in custody for Cassius 'Cassy Boom' Glasgow homicide
Members of the St Lucia Police Force have confirmed that a male individual on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 was arrested in connection with that island's first homicide for 2020.
Cassius Glasgow was discovered at his Cedars residence on Monday, January 13, 2020 with an apparent gunshot to the head. He was 47 years old.
"The individual is actually a suspect we can say that much for now," Corporal Ann Joseph of the police press office confirmed Wednesday.
Glasgow's death sparked outrage in the Marchand community where he worked closely with children of the community through community football and was instrumental in efforts destigmatizing the community.
While many fear retaliation to his death, law enforcement officials say they are prepared for any event.
"We are continuing our policing efforts and we are ready for anything if that occurs, we are prepared for that but for now we are trusting in the responsible actions of members of the public," Joseph said.
Cassius Glasgow's death is the first recorded homicide for 2020.
