Teen driving with two different licence plates, faces eight charges

Another teen made his way to the prison bus today.

He was 18-year-old Meleo Menal of Seclusion Gardens, Black Rock, St. Michael. The teen was arrested and formally charged for the following offences:

Failing to stop at Stop Sign

Failing to comply with Pc in uniform

Dangerous driving

Failing to stop at the sound of a siren

No insurance

No driver's licence

According to the police report, on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, about 11:30 am, while police were conducting traffic checks on Broad Street, Bridgetown, St. Michael, they observed the motor car with the front number plate MZ 233. It turned left from Milk Market Road on to Broad Street without stopping at the major stop. Police Officers signalled the driver to stop; he did not. He picked up speed. This resulted in a police pursuit along Prince William Henry Street, White Park Road on to County Road where he was subsequently apprehended. Police also observed the rear number plate differed from the front number plate. The rear plate was XD 303. He was arrested and taken to Central Police Station.

Menal appeared in the Bridgetown Traffic Court on Thursday, November 15, 2018, before Magistrate Graveney Bannister and pleaded guilty to all of the offences.

He was remanded in custody until December 13, 2018, pending a probation report.
