Temporary road closure in St Philip to remove bees

Following an attack by a swarm of bees that claimed the life of a 35-year-old man on Thursday afternoon, there will be a temporary road closure on Friday morning to facilitate the removal of the bee hive from the tree.
The roadway between the Wynter Crawford Roundabout and Marchfield Main Road will be closed temporarily between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 am on Friday, June 23.
Motorists are advised to use an alternative route during this time.
On Thursday afternoon, 35-year-old Nicholas Jeremy Shepherd of Marchfield, St. Philip was picking mangoes from a tree in the district when he was attacked by a swarm of bees. He quickly ran from the area of the tree seeking refuge on a nearby property, but later died at the scene.
