Testing ongoing at Lawrence T Gay Primary, students to relocate
Students of the Lawrence T.Gay Memorial School will have to wait a while longer before they return to the classroom on Spooner's Hill, as environmental testing is still being carried out on the school plant.
The Ministry of Education disclosed testing, by the Ministry of Labour and Social Partnership Relations, and the Environmental Protection Department, is ongoing in an effort to find solutions to eliminate the environmental problems surrounding the school.
REA Envirohealth will also continue to work with the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training to monitor the air quality on the plant.The school was closed earlier this month, as well as in 2019, due to environmental issues
In the interim, there will be new locations for displaced students of school.
For Class 1 and Class 2 students will report to The Church of Christ the King Anglican Church, Rock Dundo, St Michael on Monday, January 27.
Class 3 students will report to Jackson Seventh Day Adventist Church, Jackson, St Michael, also on Monday, January 27.
Reception, Infants A and Infants B students will report to Ebenezer Seventh Day Adventist Church, Eden Lodge St Michael on Tuesday, January 28. Class 4 students will continue to be housed at the Grace Hill Moravian Church.
The Ministry said a meeting will be arranged to brief parents at a date soon to be announced.
