Three charged with over $1 million worth of marijuana

Three St Michael men have been charged in connection with a $1 million drug haul.
They are Christopher Dave Johnson, 36 years, of Martindale's Road; Malo Anthony Edwards, 35 years, of Taylor's Gap, Martindale's Road; and Colvin Ishmael Brathwaite, 47 years, of Brandons Main Road.
All three men have been charged with possession, intent to supply and trafficking of cannabis.
The drugs, weighing about 300 kilogrammes and with an estimated street value of $1,210,400 BDS, were discovered aboard a fishing vessel 27 miles off Needhams Point within the territorial waters of Barbados Economic Zone.
Acting on intelligence officers from the Drug Squad, assisted by members of the Marine Section and the Barbados Coast Guard, intercepted the vessel where they found 16 polyethylene bags which all contained a quantity of vegetable matter suspected to be cannabis.
They are all scheduled to appear at the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ court today May 20.
