Today’s Tech Tip: Stop that computer from freezing

So that computer keeps freezing just when your thoughts are flowing into that document, when you are finally going to find out who the culprit is in the movie that's been keeping you pinned to the screen with all its twists or turns, or worse yet when you're about to beat your top score?

Noooooooooooooooo! Why, oh why does my computer hate me!

Well, you may have to point the finger or maybe it's best to say those screams right back at yourself.

Yes, you may just be the cause for your computer woes.

We checked with Computer Systems Engineer at Digicel Limited, Dwayne Henry, to find a solution to the problem.

He stressed that it could be a "combination of things".

One of the most surprising ones is that we may be getting too comfortable with devices such as laptops:

"Don’t use the computer on a pillow, because you are blocking the vents at the bottom and your laptop may be overheating," he explained.

Come on folks, we know what it's like to boil in this heat that we're facing every day, so give your computers some air and let them breathe.

While you are at it, don't overwork them either.

Henry added that "having multiple applications open or tabs open in the browser can also slow it down".

He suggested keeping the most important apps and tabs open to speed things up.

Finally, the Computer Systems Engineer warned that "opening email attachments when you don’t know the sender can be dangerous".

He noted that persons sometimes allow malware and other threats that can harm their device, and so urged persons to be smart when opening attachments.

Now that you know, take some time to try the various tips and you may just save a trip to the computer store.
