TOTW (Week 1)- Five Star Empire dominate in Round One

Nineteen goals in six matches, three draws and some top quality goals decked out the opening round of the 2018-19 Barbados Football Association (BFA) Premier League.

The promoted clubs gave good accounts of themselves, drawing two of their three encounters, with the remaining one, losing by one goal.

Empire SC was the pick of the clubs this week, sending five unanswered goals pass Crane & Equipment Ellerton to top Zone 2 and subsequently listing five players of Week’s One Team of the Week.

Coach: Dane Alleyne (Empire)

Formation: 1-4-3-3

Goalkeeper: Richard Corbin (Youth Milan)-  Corbin marked his return to the big league with some outstanding saves and a goal to help his team secure a point against Paradise FC.


Right Back: Renaldo Bignall (Empire)- Bignall showed his versatility and quality as he slotted in perfectly on the right side of defence.

His experience was evident in his positioning and decision making.  He also assisted with the fourth goal, as his free kick was too hot to handle for the goalkeeper and forward Jabarry “Papi” Chandler converted from close range.

Right Center Back: Ricardio Morris (Wales)- a composed and confident performance from Morris.

His distribution was accurate and his organizational skills fitted in perfectly with center half partner Ramar Millar; earning a valuable clean sheet in the process.

Left Center Back:  Omar Primus (Empire)- the usually temperamental figure, was calm, mature and outstanding as he led his team brilliantly from the back, which allowed his attackers to flourish and earn a 5-0 victory over Ellerton.

Left Back: Shanoi Evans (Empire)- the St Lucian international did well on both sides of the ball and added an assist to his name as well.


Right Center Midfield: Jefferson Silva (Lions)- a breath of fresh air and class was displayed by the Brazilian international. He netted in his first game on Barbadian soil.

His technical quality is something to definitely look forward to this season.

Center Midfield: Raheim Sargeant (BDFSP)- two goals by the national midfielder propelled his team to a 3-2 win over new boys St Andrew Lions.

Left Center Midfield: Curtis Odle (Empire)- the midfield magician rolled back the years as he contributed two goals and an assist to his team’s 5-0 victory over Ellerton.


Right Forward: Shaquille Stewart (Porey Spring)- a goal and an assist by the Porey Spring captain handed his team a two-goal lead versus Britton's Hill FC, however, they were unable to hold on and settled for a 2-2 draw.

Center Forward: Dishon Howell (Notre Dame)- the teenage sensation introduced himself to the Premier League in fine fashion.

The national team forward scored the goal of the week to give his team the lead versus the University of the West Indies (UWI).

Left Forward: Abiola Grant (Empire)- the national U17 forward showed no signs of nerves as scored his debut Premiership goal to cap off an outstanding performance on the night.
