"Halls Road, St. Michael has been rendered impassable from either direction. This is reportedly due to a burst water main which has caused part of the carriageway to collapse.

"Police patrols are on the scene and have diverted vehicular traffic."

The officer was unable to say for how long the road will be closed but added that "personnel from Barbados Water Authority and the Ministry of Transport, Works & Maintainance have been informed."

Halls Road connects the James A Tudor roundabout by the old Globe cinema to the roundabout at the bottom of Belmont Road, which would take you to Martindale's Road or on to Constitution and into Bridgetown.
