Trio accused of trafficking of over 1 Million in cannabis, remanded
Three men, including two fishermen, accused of trafficking $1.182 million dollars in cannabis have been remanded to HMP Dodds.
They are general worker Leibert McDonald Brathwaite, 58, of Hunte's Street, Baxters Road, St Michael; Curtis Wendell Bascombe of Wotton Terrace, 46, of Christ Church and Desmond ‘Brave boy’ Raphael, 48, of Coles Close Merricks St Philip
All are jointly charged with possessing, trafficking, supplying and importing 650 pounds of cannabis on November 25, 2018.
The men appeared before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch in the District 'C' Magistrates' Court yesterday, Thursday, November 29, 2018. The prosecution objected to bail on a number of grounds including antecedents and fear that they may abscond.
Despite arguments by respective lawyers for the accused, the three were remanded until December 12.
QC Michael Lashley represented Braveboy and Bascombe while Counsel Neville Reid appeared on behalf of Brathwaite.
